SLR Lens question (Beginner)????? ?
I was searching through some old drawers and came across an old Slr camera and some lenses. I have only ever used a point and shoot camera before so i have'nt got a clue how to use it. The camera is a Yashica 107 Multiprogram, and the three lenses i found with it are : Yashica DSB 28mm 1: 2.8, Yashica MC ZOOM 35-70mm 1:3.5-4.5 and a Tamron 80-210mm 103A. They all fit on the Slr camera. On the Bottom of the Tamron lens there is like this Silver metal ring which says 'Adaptall 2' On it. I was just wondering Whether or not these 3 lenses would fit on a DSLR camera such as a canon/nikon/sony as i am interested in buying one of them rather than using the old SLR film camera. Thankyou

At present, there does not seem to be any dSLR bodies that use the Yashica / Contax (Y/C) Mount unless you can find one of the old (2000) Contax N Digital SLR's somewhere.
Check on craigslist in a city near you and post a want to buy (WTB) request.

NOTE: Well it seems that Contax took a page from Canon and developed a whole new lens mounting system, the "Contax N-mount", making your lenses obsolete except when paired with your existing Yashica 35 mm SLR.
NOTE2:
Not all is lost. You can certainly learn how to take great photos using your found camera and lenses. You will just have to resort to the time honored method of carefully composing and metering your shots before pressing the shutter release to assure that you don't waste on frame of the 36 exposures a roll of Kodak, Fujifilm or other film makers 35 mm film. This may be a blessing in disguise
You will not be tempted to use the machine gun approach used by many first time users of digital cameras, where they hold down the shutter release and in the few hundred shots they get, hope one is good. You cannot afford to do that with film due to the modest cost of a roll of film and its processing. Using a 36 exposure roll over the period of a full day or more, will certainly teach you discipline when shooting.

Take your camera into a camera store and have the provide you with some new batteries for the cameras light meter or camera itself.
