Can shooting directly at the full moon damage my digital camera lens?
I have a Sony DSCH10 and was shooting into the full moon last night... just wondering if this light can damage my digital camera lens. I probably will never shoot into the sun, because I don't do day pictures.
The exposure when shooting the moon is the same as when shooting earthly things in daylight.
Hint: The same sun lights the moon as our earth.
This means that you can use the same exposure settings as you would shooting during the day. That is called the sunny 16 rule. f/16 @ 1/ISO of the film or sensor.
If you try to use the auto metering system on your H10, the moon will only be a white hole in the sky since you will overexpose it terribly, losing all of its detail
